I am the owner/operator of J.L. Carpet & Upholstery, a carpet and upholstery cleaning business based in Brooklyn NY that services the NYC metro area. With my limited knowledge, I began to build my client base and it wasnt long before I started to run into problems and came to the decision that I should take some classes. I actually didn't know they existed until that point. I knew that armed with the right methods and basic knowledge of how to clean, I could basically just stay out of trouble. Plus I valued the IICRC certification and I also did it to prove to myself that I was dedicated as I soon realized that not many people in our industry take them. The instructor I had was Randy Pierce and not only did he have a thorough knowledge of what was given in the books, he often would stop and give us real world application of what we were learning. He answered all of our questions and also gave us tips on how to grow our business. He gave us his contact information after the exam and when I went on my way I was very pleased with my experience. Little did I know that I would over time, Randy would become a mentor for me and my business. I contact him on a regular basis for guidance and he has never left me hanging. I wish I could say it is these classes that have made a difference, but that isn't the case. Though other instructors have been helpful, Randy's character, integrity and level of care for his students is second to none. I have added some of that to my own and have had a very successful year. I began with equipment, ugly pink fliers and the will to win. 10 months later i have completed 221 jobs and have not ruined anything since my class. I cant say enough about him and the other gentlemen who instructed my CCT class. I would highly recommend taking any class that he teaches because the truth is, its the messenger who makes the difference.
